PROFILE

In the year 3000, the mutant terrorist Ransik escaped his imprisonment by the Time Force Police and travelled to the past to take over the world I think. Four officers pursue him nine-hundred and ninety-nine years into the past because as it turns out, the team known as Time Force can travel through time. One of these officers was Lucas Kendall, the Blue Time Force Ranger.

Lucas was the Cool Guy of the group, a championship race car driver with gelled tips and a standoffish attitude. After showing off his racing chops to impress Wes, he was pulled over and issued a ticket for not having a valid license. The cop was not impressed with his future ID with the hologram. Thus, we get a scene with two Power Rangers standing in line at the DMV.

should have made an appointment dummy

One of Ransik’s mutants sped past Lucas during his driving test, so he took his instructor for quite a ride. However, even the racing champ wasn’t fast enough to catch up with Nadira and her minions. They were able to chase down the monster with their new Vector Cycles. Lucas never got his license.

Lucas acted as an older brother to Trip, the Green Ranger and an alien with telepathy. He advised Trip that he should only use his telepathic powers when absolutely necessary, because god forbid it interfere with his poker game.

At the scene of a car accident, Lucas gave a pretty girl his number for the Rangers’ odd job service, because that’s the kinda thing a Cool Guy does. This caught the attention of a young girl named Holly, who hired him to be his bodyguard because some of those pesky mutants and robots captured her dad. Also her dad happened to be Dr. Zaskin who was researching the Quantum Ranger powers for Mr. Collins.

you know, I’m something of a police officer myself

After agreeing to protect her, Lucas and Holly were pursued by Klawlox. The Blue Ranger tried to protect her as best as he could but got his ass kicked. Holly flipped the script and defended him instead – which kinda defeated the purpose of hiring a bodyguard – but the monster set her teddy bear on fire. It was pretty funny. This pissed off Lucas and he kicked the monster’s butt. He made no money from the job but he did buy the girl a new teddy bear. Character growth.

not all heroes wear spandex or helmets

Once again, Lucas got pulled over for driving like a buffoon. (Apparently he did end up getting his license because he was able to show it to the cop this time.) His confidence in his abilities behind the wheel would be tested even further when his old rival, a mutant named Dash, re-emerged as a boy toy of Nadira’s. If you couldn’t tell by his name, Dash also drives fastly, but got arrested and frozen when Lucas ratted him out for reckless driving.

“look at the balls on that guy”

Dash challenged Lucas to one last race to break their tie, instigating it when Lucas was going through his traffic school course. Not wanting to race on busy roads, Lucas was just in time to stop Dash from hitting a bunch of kids. I guess this taught the mutant a lesson about taking responsibility for his actions. Nadira wasn’t too keen on this and shot him with a shocky needle thing that made him Super Evil™. He ends up surrendering himself to pay for his sins. The moral of the story is that… people can change? Sure!

Did you know Lucas likes cars? He likes them so much that he writes poetry about them! Somehow, Ransik caught wind of these musings and assumed they were about Nadira. He forced Lucas into going on a date with her, which was about as silly as it sounds. The other Rangers found out about this “arrangement” and found a way to get her to break up with him: make Lucas as disgusting as possible. It worked and Lucas was freed from Ransik’s trap. Well, sort of. Daddy was still pissed.

quarantine got me like

Once the whole Ransik situation was taken care of, Lucas travelled back to the future with the other would-be Time Force officers. He would return once more to assist the Wild Force Rangers in their fight against the Mut-Orgs. Also he probably porked Nadira at some point.

RANKING

Lucas’s key character trait is that he likes driving. I think the only reason he exists is because he wandered onto set and somebody was like “We need a guy to fill in the Blue suit. How about him?” Other than that, the dude just radiates big fuckboy energy and I have no use for him. Since he didn’t do anything that outright offended me, I’ll stick him just above Troy as the new number 20 on the Children of Zordon.

That being said, Nadira’s Dream Date is a very entertaining episode.

Whenever I decide to do another one of these, you can bet your butt you’ll see it if you slam dunk that follow button on my Twitter. Check out the Master List to see why your opinion is incorrect. I don’t do Facebook, that’s for chumps.

Tune in next time when we investigate the curse of the cobra and Ryan Mitchell, the all-American Boy.

  1. Personally I can’t stand Lucas, it’s the only time force ranger I don’t love. He’s just a dick. He treats trip bad and he acts like women would fall at his feet but the only person who would actually date him is his car
