Those are the words I said at the end of my last post. Then a whole lot of crap happened. Just a lot of shit. In addition to that, I had to watch Megaforce again. Do you understand what I put myself through? Unbelievable.

PROFILE

Being a new kid in class ain’t easy, especially when you dream about Power Rangers on the bus. So basically what I’m saying is that Troy Burrows is me when I was in high school, except I was prettier. His dreams started to make a little bit more sense when he was teleported to the command center of Gosei, a tiki lookin’ headass who told him he was the Red Mega Ranger, leader of the Power Rangers Megaforce. Based on what Gosei says about him, Troy is very disciplined and has faced great adversity in his life. Will we find out what that is?

No.

Troy faces off against his greatest enemy — a water bottle

When Troy’s not leading his valiant team of goobers, he’s doing stuff like going for jogs and practicing martial arts and reading while strolling down the hallways of Harwood County High. This almost got him in trouble when he bumped into a couple of bullies, but luckily he’s “cool as ice” as Noah describes it so he didn’t even cry. I’d argue it’s because Troy feels zero emotion, but I’m just making observations.

break the wrist, walk away

An even bigger bully named Creepox reared his ugly head. Troy had previously encountered Creepox a couple of times and almost destroyed him, but this time he bullied the whole city by blowing up buildings and killing thousands of people (unless he was in the abandoned warehouse district? it’s unclear). Troy wasn’t about to have any of that nonsense and, with a little help from Noah, he was able to wreck his shit, and all without crying. Truly the pinnacle of bravery and leadership.

to be fair we’ll never know if he was crying under that helmet

When a group of toxic mutants threatened to pollute the Earth even more than humans already had, Troy led his team into battle until they were quickly overwhelmed. They were rescued by a robot named Robo Knight who assisted them in fighting off the monsters. Troy formed a crush on him and was eager to have him on the team, presumably because it was another robot that he could finally relate to. However, Robo Knight didn’t trust humans and elected to work alone until Troy was able to win him over. Though their alliance was a short one, they became the bestest of pals.

In a stunning display, Troy proved that he was a real boy all along by laughing at some jokes. Unfortunately, a fart joke managed to get him captured by a laugh-inducing monster. It was up to Noah and his dad-level pun about seagulls to free Troy and the others from the monster’s weird testicle gourd.

his teeth do be lookin fresh tho

The Rangers defeated Vrak and the Warstar aliens, and all was well until the Armada showed up to make a stink. Gosei granted the team new morphers and the ability to transform into legacy Rangers and use their powers, giving Troy the upgraded Super Megaforce Red mode.

troy20

lookin pretty Marvelous imo

Troy never forgot about Robo Knight, who sacrificed his powers and disappeared shortly after the invasion began. He would often vanish to try to find him, or just stand around at the beach and stare out at the ocean. It’s hard to tell what he’s doing sometimes.

He didn’t have to look too hard. Vrak made his return after kidnapping Orion the Silver Ranger and stealing his “alien life force” to power his own, as well as freezing the Rangers’ Super Pirate Mode. Channelling this power into the captured Robo Knight allowed Vrak to gain control of the Rangers’ old ally, all while creating drills to be placed around Earth to… drill into Earth I guess.

Desperation to save Robo Knight without hurting Troy to get his ass kicked until he couldn’t take it anymore. He charged up his inexplicable Super Saiyan power to deliver a gut punch that brought Robo Knight back to reality. He used this new chance at life to return to Vrak’s underwater base and rescue Orion, sacrificing his own life in the process. This made Troy sad I guess.

kaio-ken times 69 haha nice

With both Vrak and Vekar out of commission, the Rangers took some time to chill and celebrate. Troy, however, was still cautious, knowing that the Armada could still have something up their sleeve. Damaras, the Armada’s strongest warrior, nipped that right in the bud and kidnapped him. The Red Ranger was used as blackmail in exchange for the entire planet. Why a villain would assume that everyone would give up Earth for the sake of one Power Ranger is rather bold, but it didn’t matter because Jake and Tensou rescued him.

troy25

troy probably dreamed about this too but he also liked it

Emperor Mavro launched a full-scale attack on Harwood Country. This caught the Rangers off-guard and they lost all of their Zords. When morale was down, Troy encouraged his pals to keep going, still optimistic that they would win in the end. He and the Silver Ranger took on Mavro directly on his ship, taking control and destroying the Armada fleet.

A gigantic final army of X-Borgs prompted some backup, with all of the previous Power Rangers joining the Mega Rangers in battle. Troy’s dream had finally been realized. It lasted 3 minutes and then it was over.

RANKING

I read something once about how Troy was originally intended to be much more fleshed-out. He’d have this sort of connection to Gosei that would explain his dreams and his obsession with Robo Knight.

However, that’s not what we got.

He has some dreams about the Legendary Battle, and then the battle happens. He was still very connected to Robo Knight, but there’s no proper context for his obsession with him other than he’s a cool robot I guess???

Troy is a surface-level Red Ranger. He calls shots, he’s handsome, he’s nice to his team, and his friends are loyal to him. He gets mad when his team… lets go of their weapons. He smiled once or twice.

But that’s all. Troy has nothing else going for him. Fans — desperate for anything to make the guy fun to talk about — like to joke that he has a traumatic past involving water bottles because he has a tendency to fight them while karate training. Calling him a robot is far from an exaggeration. I could have left the body of this profile empty and you would have learned just as much about him, but that’s no fun. So I did it. I wrote it and you can thank me later.

Troy goes straight to the bottom. Such a waste. Sorry, Andrew Gray.

Anyway, make sure you follow @childrnofzordon, AKA the King of Twitter. There’s this other cool guy called @nocontextranger who wouldn’t mind if you had a gander.

Next week/month/year/pandemic I’ll talk about Lucas Kendall. “Who?” Exactly. Seeya then.
