PROFILE

When the Nighlok started to become a bit too much for one Red Ranger to handle, he summoned the other four chosen Samurai Rangers to aid him in his quest to get rid of them or whatever. Mia Watanabe – whose full name is only available to us due to her ID being visible in one episode – had to leave her normal life behind her to become the Pink Samurai Ranger. Her normal life involved watching children at a park. She may have been a teacher. I really don’t care one way or the other.

Mia was the team’s big sister and relentlessly optimistic. She liked to cook even though she’s bad at it. She also dreamt of someday meeting her Prince Charming and getting married.

There was that time when Mentor Ji gave her the Beetle Disk to control the Samurai Battlewing. She pretty much immediately gave it up to Mike because… he’s a boy and he learned how to use his Symbol Power?

She got to wear a wedding dress as a decoy for some Nighloks, so I guess that’s the end of her character arc. Shit, even in her dreams, she’d imagine people getting married. She saw visions of the relationship between Deker and Dayu in her dreams, two characters who wound up being far more interesting than she ever would.

Mia was also bad at cooking. Did I mention that yet? The show sure does love to mention it. But it’s funny because everyone pretended to like her cooking. But golly gee, nobody liked eating it!

Not only was Mia bad at cooking, but she also wanted to get married! I may have forgotten that little tidbit. I’m sorry. She just has so many crazy quirks it’s hard to summarize her personality.

Not only did Mia have a personality, she also had a brother named Terry! Terry is allowed to just show up at the Shiba House for unknown reasons. He also knew that she was a bad cook. Did you know Mia is a bad cook? It’s pretty crazy. Anyhow, Terry wanted Mia to be in his band for a show that night, but his sister had a stick up her ass and wanted him to focus on school. She only agreed to join in at the last minute when she realized it was a charity concert. What a great sister.

Spike Skullovich, Son of Eugene Skullovich, First of His Name, had a huge crush on Mia, because Skull had a crush on Kim in MMPR and we need to remind people of a show the liked while they watch one that blows chunks. One time Mia told him to never give up. Then she got to use Super Samurai Mode twice and also Shogun Mode. Yas queen. Girlboss.

When Xandred finally got put down for good, Mia decided to go off to culinary school. Because she’s bad at cooking. In case you didn’t know.

Mia’s not a character. Mia is an obligatory warm body needed to fill a Pink Ranger suit that was given the most basic traits of her Sentai counterpart in order to give her something resembling a personality.

On the other hand, she’s not Troy. So she gets the honor of being the new second-to-last Child of Zordon.
